The New Orleans World's Fair Installation references snapshots I found in a Louisiana thrift store. (23 panels of oil on Plexi glass on shelves). As a teenager I was one of the several million people who attended this event, and I immediately recognized the images in the found snapshots.

My installation explores one individual's documentation of a day at the fair; my own memories of the event; as well as a look back at the now obsolete cultural phenomenon of World Expositions. The plexi-glass panels include both reverse and direct painting in oil and acrylic. The transparency of the painting surface also relates to the photographic process of the source material (found photos) -- creating both a dissolving quality and visual uncertainty, ultimately referencing both memory and history.
